Reverend Catherine Yvonne Patterson

Associate Minister / Minister Christian Education
 

Rev. Catherine Y. Patterson has been a member, and has served on the ministerial staff at Friendship Baptist Church for 25 years.  Rev. Patterson earned her Bachelors ’ of Arts Degree in English/Communications from Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio and further earned a Black Ministers Certificate of Study from the Hartford Theological Seminary, Hartford Connecticut.  Rev. Patterson was ordained to preach the Gospel at Friendship Baptist Church in April of 199. She is recognized as an Ordained Minister of the Gospel in the National Baptist Association and the American Baptist Churches of New York State.  Reverend Catherine Patterson faithfully served as Interim Pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church from 19941998.                                                                                                                         

Rev. Patterson currently serves on the Ministry Committee (catechizations/ordinations) for the Capital Area Baptist Association (American Baptist of New York State) and is the Capital Area Representative for the Congress of Christian Education of the Central Hudson Baptist Association. She also serves as a Workshop Leader for the Congress of Christian Education for the Central Hudson Baptist Association. In her secular life Rev. Patterson is employed at the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.

Reverend Brenda Shaw

Associate Minister / Women's Fellowship Leader

Rev. Brenda Shaw was called to the Ministry as an Evangelist in 1996.  Rev. Shaw is a 2002 graduate of the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis Indiana where she earned her Masters of Arts Degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling. Rev. Shaw was ordained to preach the Gospel at the Shining Star MBC, Indianapolis IN, in November 2011 where she then served as an Associate Minister.   In 2012, Rev. Shaw and her husband Rev. Steve Shaw followed God ’ s call to relocate from Indianapolis IN, back to Schenectady NY and reunited with the church of her youth, Friendship Baptist Church. Rev. Shaw has a great passion for preaching and teaching.  In her secular life Rev. Shaw is a Mental Health Therapist and works with children and families. She currently serves as a Board Member for Patty ’ s Place, Drop- in Resource Center of Schenectady NY.

Reverend Steve Shaw

Associate Minister 

Rev. Steve Shaw served as Chair of Deacons at the Shining Star MBC Indianapolis Indiana for 7 years prior to answering the Call to preach the Gospel in 2008. Rev. Shaw attended the Ministerial Development Institution in Houston, TX and is an ardent student of the Bible. Rev. Shaw was ordained to preach the Gospel at the Shining Star MBC Indianapolis, IN in November 2011, where he served as an Associate Minister. In 2012 Rev. Steve Shaw and his wife Rev. Brenda relocated from Indianapolis, IN to Schenectady NY and united with the Friendship Baptist Church where he serves as an Associate Minister. Rev. Shaw is a passionate preacher of the Gospel and is committed to Community Outreach. In addition to his service at Friendship Baptist Church, Rev. Shaw is the Shepherd of the Light House Food Pantry and Prayer Center Ministries where he and his helpmate Rev. Brenda Shaw serve as co-laborers in Outreach Ministry.
